Originating from an ancient Italian variety, Refosco is a dark-skinned grape most commonly grown in the Venezia and Treviso provinces of the historic Veneto region. Refosco is known as one of Italy’s best-kept secrets, a wine long favoured by locals and not widely marketed to the outside world. This red variety is both full-bodied and robust, with prominent acidity. The colour is dense and dark, with aromas of violet and delicious pepper and plum flavours. The La Storia D’amore Veneto Refosco is the ideal table wine, shared over braised beef cheeks, moussaka or a hearty bourguignon.
